Pull-tight seals are security fasteners and a true all-rounder when it comes to tamper-proof and deception-proof closure or sealing of goods or cargoes of any kind. If you want to buy universally applicable seals, you have various options depending on the application requirements. As indicative seals, they serve as an indication of the untouched and tamper-free state of the sealed object or item. These security seals, mostly made of plastic, are very easy to handle as they do not require any tools such as a sealing tool. The functioning of the seals is similar to that of a cable tie. Due to their flexible length, the seals are suitable for various applications, such as meter seals for electricity, gas, or water meters, deposit seals, garment seals, wildlife tags, or even container seals.
Due to their versatility in usable length and characteristics or strength, pull-tight seals can be useful in a wide range of applications. Plastic seals are intended for one-time use. The usable length is determined by the user by pulling the sealing strap through the punched eyelet as far as necessary. In this eyelet, there is a metal insert that penetrates the sealing strap when it is pulled in, thus preventing damage-free opening of the seal. As a result, seals cannot be reused.

To prevent seals from being easily replaced, all pull-tight seals have a unique and individually consecutive number. The serial number is often scannable by a barcode. Some pull-tight seals are also equipped with document labels that can be additionally affixed to the shipping documents. This way, during goods receipt control, it can be immediately determined whether the originally used seal is still in place or if a seal replacement has occurred.
When searching for a suitable sealing solution, the resistance of the material is crucial. Most plastic seals are made of polypropylene, abbreviated as PP. Polypropylene is a resilient yet flexible plastic and is therefore used for the production of most pull-tight seals. Polyamide (PA), also known as nylon, is slightly more resistant to environmental influences compared to polypropylene. Due to their high tear and abrasion resistance as well as heat resistance, polyamide seals are usually slightly more expensive than PP seals. However, there are also pull-tight seals made of metal, known as wire seals.
The applications for pull-tight seals are highly diverse. They are used in the logistics industry, for example, to seal freight containers, truck doors, or transport boxes, ensuring the integrity of the contents during transportation. Pull-tight seals are also used in sensitive areas such as banking or the pharmaceutical industry to protect money transport containers, lockers, or medication packaging from unauthorized access. Plastic seals are also often used for sealing personnel files. Pull-tight seals can provide an effective means of documenting security checks or inspections, for example, with fire extinguishers or emergency bags. Especially for these applications, seals with tear-off mechanisms are suitable for easy removal in case of emergencies. Thin wire seals are often used for sealing meters, such as water, electricity, or gas meters. Wire seals are excellent as water meter seals, electricity
meter seals, or gas meter seals. By recording the serial numbers or barcodes of the used seals, it is possible to trace when and by whom the seals were applied. This can be helpful in case of irregularities or security breaches. Another common use of pull-tight seals is as deposit seals. In retail, they are often used to mark the return of empty containers from individual stores to a central warehouse for clear assignment later on. They are also suitable as wildlife tags, providing numbered identification for shot game belonging to a specific hunting area. Often, samples are taken from shot game animals to check for diseases and infections. To later associate these samples with the respective animal, marking them with a wildlife tag is essential.
There are two printing methods available for printing pull-tight seals.
Thermo-print: In this printing process, a foil with the desired print, whether it's a standard seal or a personalized seal, is pressed onto the seal flag by applying heat. This is comparable to how a laminating device works. The print is sharp and visually appealing. However, with high stress on the seal due to friction or other external factors, the printing may become illegible over time.
Laser-print: This printing method is highly resistant to abrasion and environmental influences. It is laser-engraved into the plastic and prevents illegibility. This printing method is well-suited for sealing containers, transport boxes, or wildlife tags.
Most pull-tight seals can be personalized according to customer requirements. Custom seal flags with company logos and unique numbering can be produced
upon request. If you have a personalization request or need samples, please feel free to contact us. We are happy to assist you.
