The TempU M4 data logger enables seamless temperature monitoring of temperature-sensitive products in pharmaceutical, logistics, and food applications, both in storage and during transport. Deviations from defined temperature limits are visible at a glance and support efficient quality management. The free temperature management software allows the settings of the TempU M4 logger to be individually adapted to internal QM requirements and industry-specific demands. The unique serial number, a scannable barcode, and an additional removable serial number sticker ensure tamper protection, traceability, and audit-proof documentation.

Temperature monitoring for air freight and deep-freeze transport according to EN 12830

The TempU M4 temperature data logger records temperature values by default in 10-minute intervals, with the recording interval being flexible and configurable. Individual alarm limits and other device settings can be adjusted on a project-by-project basis. The versatile configuration options allow for precise customization to specific transportation profiles and logistical processes. The measurement data is conveniently read out via the integrated USB interface. The logger automatically generates a PDF report and a CSV file for further processing, which contains the complete temperature history and all individual readings.

Thanks to its compact design and low weight, the TempU M4 can be easily attached to almost any shipment. The device is equipped with a replaceable standard battery (CR2032) and is designed for repeated use in multiple transports, such as in industrial transport. The calibration certificate is valid for two years. The TempU M4 meets the requirements of EN 12830 and is approved for monitoring deep-frozen food. Additionally, it is not classified as hazardous goods according to IATA guidelines and is therefore also suitable for temperature-sensitive air freight shipments.

Activation and use:

Before activation, the pre-set parameters of the TempU M4 can be individually adjusted using the free Temperature Management Software (see downloads below). Therefore, measurement intervals and alarm limits can be configured according to internal quality standards and application-specific requirements, among other things. To start the data logger, press and hold the START button for more than 3 seconds. As soon as the OK display appears or the corresponding status display is activated, the logger has been successfully started.

The regular display indicates that the logger is active and recording temperature values. If defined threshold values are exceeded or undershot during the measurement, the logger displays an alarm status. This allows for a quick assessment of whether critical temperature deviations occurred during transport or storage.

After successful activation, the TempU M4 can be attached to the shipment or positioned in the warehouse. Due to its compact design, it is suitable for use in shipping boxes, coolers, transport containers, or stationary cooling devices. Additionally, the logger is equipped with a hanging hole that allows for flexible attachment, such as hanging or fixing. The logger should be placed in a way that ensures a representative measurement of the product temperature.

The TempU M4 is connected to a PC via the USB interface when the goods have arrived at the destination or after the measurement is complete. Temperature data are automatically generated as PDF and CSV reports and are immediately available for documentation, quality management, and audits. No additional software is required to read the data. After reading out, the reusable data logger can be reconfigured and reused for further measurements. If necessary, a battery change is required before reuse to ensure reliable recording. This enables sustainable and economical use.

Restart and battery replacement:

Depending on the recording intensity and the duration of use of the data logger, a battery change may be necessary. In particular, the battery's charge level should be checked before restarting. The current battery status is displayed on the data logger's LCD display.

To change the battery, open the cover on the back of the TempU M4 logger using a slotted screwdriver or a suitable tool. Remove the used battery and dispose of it in accordance with applicable regulations. Then insert a new battery, making sure to observe the correct polarity (positive and negative terminals). A CR2032 lithium battery is required for operation. Afterwards, carefully close the cover again.

After ensuring that the data report has been saved and the battery status has been checked, the TempU M4 data logger can be restarted. The restart occurs after the same process as described before. The logger is designed for repeated use.

The included calibration certificate, which you can download along with the data report either directly from the logger or through the software, is valid for two years. After this period, a new calibration is necessary to ensure continued measurement accuracy. Since recalibration is associated with considerable expense and cost, in many cases the replacement of the old data logger with a new device is the simpler and more economical solution.
